(NEXSTAR) – Starting in 2024, all Americans heading to Europe will have an extra step – and an extra fee – other than booking a flight and hotel. The European Union will soon require incoming foreigners to fill out an online application before they enter popular tourist destinations like France, Italy, Spain and Greece. It's not just Americans – the EU says travelers from 60 visa-exempt countries will need to apply through the ETIAS process. (ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorisation System.) The EU says the new requirement will affect 1.4 billion people from around the world. After just a year, Momento in downtown St. Paul to close to re-concept

Published Wed, 05 Mar 2025 01:21:36 GMT

Momento, the restaurant that opened about a year ago in the former Pazzaluna space, is closing temporarily. The restaurant will close from July 30-Sept. 5. When it reopens on Sept. 6, there will be a new concept that includes a new chef and entirely new food and drink menus.Memento was a more casual eatery than Pazzaluna, with a bar front-and-center. There were still a few pizzas (probably Pazzaluna’s most popular item) on the menu, and the wood-fired oven was used to make more appetizers and entrees.A spokesperson for Morrissey Hospitality, which owns Momento, said the name of the restaurant will remain the same, but the decor will have some noticeable changes. For now, the company plans to keep the Adam Turman mural that adorns one side of the space.Downtown St. Paul has been slow to rebound from the pandemic. Although shows and events are returning, workers are not. Many, including government workers, remain remote or hybrid, making it tricky for restaurants to keep steady busines...

WASHINGTON (AP) — July has been so hot thus far that scientists calculate it as the hottest globally on record. Even though there are several days left to sweat through, it's already likely the warmest month that human civilization has seen. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The World Meteorological Organization and the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service on Thursday proclaimed July’s heat is beyond record-smashing. Stock market today: Wall Street’s rally runs out of gas

Published Wed, 05 Mar 2025 01:21:36 GMT

By STAN CHOE (AP Business Writer)NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street is fading Thursday, and its big rally is losing momentum despite fatter-than-expected profit reports from big companies and the latest signals of a resilient economy. The S&P 500 was 0.7% lower in late trading after touching its highest level in nearly 16 months, and the Nasdaq composite flipped from an early gain to a loss of 0.6%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 255 points, or 0.7%, at 35,265 with less than than 20 minutes remaining in trading. Honeywell International was a heavy weight on the market despite reporting stronger profit for the spring than analysts expected. It dropped 5.3% after its revenue fell short of analysts’ expectations, as did its forecast for earnings in the current quarter. The dip for Wall Street put a halt to a torrid run where the Dow climbed for 13 straight days. Earlier Thursday, it seemed to be on the verge of tying a win-streak record set in 1897. Stocks have bee...
