EUREKA, Mo. – Interstate 44 was temporarily closed in both directions Monday afternoon following a utility pole fire near Highway 109 in Eureka.The time and cause of the fire has not been disclosed.The fire caused high-tension wires to sag dangerously close to the roadway in both directions.Crews from Ameren Missouri responded and secured the wires.Both sides of I-44 were reopened by 4:20 p.m.Missouri respiratory therapist pleads guilty in deaths of 2 patients

(AP) — A former respiratory therapist has pleaded guilty in the deaths of two patients at a Missouri hospital two decades ago.Jennifer Hall, 42, initially was charged with two counts of first-degree murder but pleaded guilty instead Friday to reduced first-degree involuntary manslaughter counts in the deaths of 75-year-old Fern Franco and 37-year-old David Wesley Harper, The Kansas City Star reported. She also pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree assault.Franco and Harper were among nine patients who died at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe over several months in 2002 in what charging documents describe as “medically suspicious” events. An off-duty deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department died in a crash involving his motorcycle and a car Monday morning, officials confirmed.The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Van Buren Boulevard just north of Garfield Street in Riverside where a silver sedan apparently collided with Deputy Andrew Davidson's motorcycle.Video from the scene shows the wreckage of the motorcycle next to a utility pole and a row of parked cars. A man was taken into custody Monday after an hourslong armed standoff with deputies in Santa Clarita’s Canyon Country neighborhood.The standoff began around 6:20 a.m. in the 19300 block of Newhouse Street where the suspect “barricaded” himself inside his vehicle with a weapon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.Officials said the suspect was wanted for an armed robbery and the standoff occurred after the end of a pursuit.Sky5 video showed several armored police vehicles surrounding two white SUVs in a cul-de-sac. 22-Year-Old Passenger Killed in Pursuit Accident near California Oaks RoadMURRIETA, CA (April 24, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Trayvon Ford was pronounced dead after a police chase collision on Interstate 15.Police responded to the scene around 4:40 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near California Oaks Road on April 15th.According to reports, the driver of Jeep Compass was traveling on the freeway near Magnolia Avenue with no license plate. As a result, officers attempted to perform a traffic stop.
