Read more Letters to the Editor.Grim remindersof East Bay lifeIn the June 13 edition there were 11 stories on Pages B2 and B3, either continued from Page B1 or printed in full. Nine of those stories had headlines that included words like “carjacking,” “shooting,” “sex offender” and “deadly home invasion.” These stories filled those two pages (less obituaries) and I found it a disappointing example of daily life in the East Bay. Sadly, one story involved the continued saga of my hometown police force in Antioch. No community or neighborhood in the East Bay can escape these grim stories. Editors have no choice but to print them when lives are lost. Depending upon what authority is quoted, crime is either up or down, but it is with us.
